This year, we’re sharing the inspiring stories of women in science with our #CVCWomenInScience2025 video series. The initiative showcases the diverse stories and inspiration of women in science at Computer Vision Center and everything has been explained by them.
Each video delves into the personal journeys, challenges overcome and groundbreaking research of female scientists at CVC, aiming to inspire the next generation of STEM women. From pioneering work in the field of medicine to innovative approaches to reading systems or autonomous vehicles. Every video gives a glimpse into the diverse contributions of these women and their impact on the world. We’ve explored 8 unique stories, highlighting the passion and dedication that drives every woman.
Additionally... CVC Scientists Bring Science to Schools for the International Day of Women and Girls in Science!
As part of the International Day of Women and Girls in Science, researchers from the Computer Vision Center (CVC) have participated in educational talks to inspire young students and highlight the role of women in science and technology.
Dr Debora Gil, a CVC researcher, took part in the Científiques program, delivering a talk to first- and second-year high school students at Institut Narcís Oller in Valls. The Científiques initiative connects female scientists with schools to share their knowledge, showcase real and relatable role models, and encourage full and equal participation of women in science. Meanwhile, Dr Alexandra Gomez-Villa visited FEDAC Montcada. Her engaging talk, also in celebration of the International Day of Women and Girls in Science, sparked curiosity and excitement about scientific careers among young children.
The talks by Debora and Alex are clear examples of how science can empower and inspire future generations. Initiatives like Científiques play a key role in promoting gender equality, breaking stereotypes, and fostering curiosity and critical thinking among students in Catalonia.
