EUA, DORA and SPARC Europe organised a joint webinar to discuss practical steps in reimagining academic career assessment. These institutional- and national-level initiatives serve to inspire and identify emerging pathways of change.

The webinar presented the main findings from case studies that have been collected in an online repository and published in the report “Reimagining Academic Career Assessment: Stories of innovation and change”. A discussion of the findings and a Q&A session with the audience focused on what can be learned from the experience of the universities and national consortia that have developed and implemented more responsible academic career assessment approaches.

The discussion on responsible academic career assessment has emerged to take centre stage over the past decade as a way to promote open scholarship and improve academic culture. However, for all the progress that has been made, implementing more responsible academic career assessment practices is a real challenge. This webinar aimed to support further change by presenting and discussing emerging pathways of institutional reform of academic career assessment.

The presentation is accessible for downloading and a recording of the webinar is now available on the EUA YouTube channel.
