The Ranking Web or Webometrics is the largest academic ranking of Higher Education Institutions. Since 2004 and every six months an independent, objective, free, open scientific exercise is performed by the Cybermetrics Lab (Spanish National Research Council, CSIC) for the providing reliable, multidimensional, updated and useful information about the performance of universities from all over the world based on their web presence and impact.

The fast pace of innovation poses new challenges on research and innovation systems of many less developed regions. These are often not sufficiently oriented towards knowledge intensive and other sectors that contribute to improvements in productivity. Despite a general improvement in the quality of R&I systems in these regions in the last years, their overall performance remains low and more efforts are needed to further boost quality and their effectiveness in translating R&I into positive economic returns. This working paper looks in its first section at regional disparities and dynamics as regards productivity growth. The second section examines performance and progress of research and innovation systems at a regional level, based on key parameters such as R&D spending, scientific publications and patents. Finally the links between R&I performance and economic outcomes, such as productivity growth, are analysed.

This report by an independent group of experts carries out a thorough assessment of EU support to the preparatory phase of pan-European research infrastructures, looking at the evolution of funding instruments and formulating recommendations for ensuring the long-term sustainability of the European research infrastructure system.

El Govern de la Generalitat va aprovar, l’any 2014, l’Estratègia de recerca i innovació per a l’especialització intel·ligent de Catalunya (RIS3CAT), que defineix les prioritats per a les polítiques públiques d’R+D+I i les actuacions que tindran el suport del Programa operatiu del FEDER de Catalunya 2014-2020. El Sistema de monitoratge de la RIS3CAT defineix els indicadors de seguiment i el sistema d’avaluació dels projectes i dels instruments de la RIS3CAT. En aquest document, es proporciona una anàlisi estratègica de l'impacte de la crisi pels set àmbits de la RIS3CAT: indústria alimentària; indústries de la química, l’energia i els recursos; sistemes industrials; manufactures de disseny; indústries culturals i de l’experiència; indústries de la salut i ciències de la vida, i indústries de la mobilitat i l’automoció.
