The Top 100 Global Innovators uses a complete comparative analysis of global invention data to assess the strength of every patented idea, using measures tied directly to their innovative power. To move from the individual idea strength to identify the organizations that create them more consistently and frequently, Clarivate sets two threshold criteria that potential candidates must meet and then adds a measure of their patented innovation output over the past five years.

Understanding local capabilities is vital for identifying regional specializations and technological trajectories in a knowledge-based economy. Traditional indicators, such as R&D expenditure, fail to capture the quality and interdependencies of knowledge creation. Complexity and relatedness metrics address this gap by offering deeper insights into economic activities and their connections. The paper shows how using these tools can enhance the design of more impactful, data-driven policies that foster growth and address societal challenges.

This study examines the economic outcomes of companies that hold Intellectual Property Rights (IPR) in contrast to those that do not register such rights. Drawing from a comprehensive dataset spanning 2013-2022, the study evaluates over 119,000 firms across all 27 EU member states. The scope of the investigation encompasses patents, trademarks, and designs registered with the European Patent Office (EPO), the European Union Intellectual Property Office (EUIPO), as well as national and regional IP offices within the European Union.

El estudio analiza el peso y la evolución del empleo en las ramas más intensivas en tecnología. Los datos confirman que este tipo de empleo ha crecido a mayor ritmo que el de otros sectores, si bien está muy concentrado (el 60% se localiza en Comunidad de Madrid y Cataluña) y muy masculinizado (68% de los puestos). En esta edición, se ha puesto el foco en observar cómo impactó la pandemia de la covid-19 en la creación de puestos de trabajo vinculados a la tecnología.

The EU is challenged by a persistent leadership gap in the global health innovation landscape, with the US leading in corporate health innovation and venture capital (VC) funding. This paper analyzes trends in VC financing for health-related innovations in Europe compared to the US, using data from Dealroom. The results show that the weakness of the European health VC market continues to hold in the early and late stages, where less progress seems to have been made.

The 2025 edition of the QS World University Rankings by Subject features 55 individual subjects across five broad subject areas. Over 1,700 institutions have been ranked across these subjects this year, with 171 institutions included this year who were not present in the 2024 edition.
