This report presents the outcomes of Phase 1 of the Spanish National Chapter of the Coalition for Advancing Research Assessment (CoARA), coordinated by ANECA, CRUE, CSIC, and ISCIII. It maps emerging institutional approaches to research assessment reform across Spanish universities, research centres, and evaluation agencies. Based on contributions from over 60 institutions and the work of four thematic working groups—assessment methodologies, assessment criteria, interdisciplinarity, and awareness and training—the report identifies shared trends, methodological innovations, and challenges in implementing responsible and context-sensitive assessment practices aligned with CoARA principles. The findings will inform the next phase of the Chapter's work, focused on developing shared recommendations and strengthening institutional capacity.

The AI in Science Strategy positions the EU as a hub for AI-driven scientific innovation. At its centre is RAISE - the Resource for AI Science in Europe, a virtual European institute to pool and coordinate AI resources for developing AI and applying it in science.

This case study focuses on Moderate Innovators, within the study assessing how the Recovery and Resilience Facility (RRF) supported research and innovation (R&I) across the EU27 by analysing 387 R&I measures in national Recovery and Resilience Plans.

Technology Monitoring and Assessment (TMA) is a crucial activity to inform decision-makers and orient technology investments and governance. Since the 1970s, multiple methods and approaches have been developed worldwide, increasingly addressing complexity, uncertainty, and ethical dilemmas.

Technology infrastructures – facilities, equipment, capabilities and resources that support the development, testing and scaling of technologies before they enter the market – are an essential element of research and innovation. Technology infrastructures primarily support industrial users, lowering the risks of private investments in technology and accelerating the uptake of cutting-edge and mature technologies across various industries. This report presents the findings of a study commissioned by the European Investment Bank to assess the funding needs for capital expenditures and operational costs of technology infrastructures in the European Union by 2030.

Achieving European Union’s 2050 carbon neutrality goal requires a profound and accelerated transformation of energy systems. This transition involves not only a reconfiguration of the energy mix, but also far-reaching technological consequences stemming from the choices made, as well as the crucial issue of social acceptability. This report examines the deep structural shifts in national energy systems that are underway. It also looks into the new technological and industrial challenges related to this transition, and considers public acceptance and the capacity of societies to manage the social costs and benefits of the energy transition.

The New European Bauhaus is a flagship initiative of the European Union that drives the green transition in our built environments. Rooted in the spirit of the original Bauhaus movement — founded in 1919 by Walter Gropius to unite art, design and function — the New European Bauhaus reimagines this vision for today’s challenges of climate change, social inclusion and cultural diversity. This publication presents a portfolio of 87 ERC research projects, supported by €158 million in funding, which contribute to the generation of knowledge, technical advancements and innovative solutions that can inform and contribute to the New European Bauhaus ideals and objectives.

The "Performance Ranking of Scientific Papers for World Universities" is released by National Taiwan University, and is also known as NTU Ranking. NTU Ranking provides overall ranking, rankings by 6 fields, and rankings by 27 selected subjects. This ranking system employs bibliometric methods to analyze and rank the scientific paper performances of the world’s top universities. This ranking system evaluates the performances of the scientific papers of universities, and the indicators were designed to compare both the quality and the quantity of scientific papers in each university.  For 2025, 2,025 universities are included in NTU Rankings 2025.

Research Infrastructures (RIs) play a prominent role in advancing research in all scientific domains. However, individual RIs do not host all the equipment and resources required to tackle complex scientific or societal challenges, particularly when these are multi- or inter-disciplinary in nature. The development of integrated RI ecosystems offers new opportunities for enhancing the scope, impact and efficiency of individual RIs, but requires significant incentives to overcome the practical challenges that hinder their creation and sustainability. This policy report identifies and analyses good practices and presents a set of recommendations and guidance to help policymakers and RI managers support RI ecosystems across research disciplines and enhance the added value of RIs for society.
