This guide aims to enhance knowledge of AI tools that can assist in the practice of science journalism. While not exhaustive, the tools listed are those considered most useful.

This paper compares public R&I funding across the EU, US, and China - the world's largest R&I spenders – over recent years and identifies five key findings and their policy implications for the EU. It highlights the EU's lag in leveraging private investment, fragmented funding landscape, and lower absolute R&D spending compared to global peers. The authors call for a more strategic, better-coordinated, and innovation-driven EU R&I policy.

This report offers insights into the wide-ranging technological and sectoral scope of ERC-funded frontier research, highlighting its potential to drive impactful innovations across multiple sectors and to contribute to Europe’s goal of becoming a global leader in scientific entrepreneurship.

Este documento presenta los resultados de la decimotercera edición del proyecto U-Ranking que tiene como objetivo evaluar el funcionamiento de las universidades españolas para facilitar imágenes comparables y sintéticas de las mismas. La XIII edición de U-Ranking analiza 72 universidades —todas las públicas y 24 privadas— y las clasifica desde las distintas perspectivas que contempla el proyecto: Rendimiento, Volumen, Dimensiones y, en esta edición, Ramas de Enseñanza.

The central mission of the Global Research Council’s Responsible Research Assessment (RRA) Working Group is to facilitate and support the adoption of RRA globally. It does so by promoting a collective understanding of responsible approaches to research assessment, learning through collaboration, and openly sharing good practices to guide collective advancement. This case study library advances this mission by enabling funding organisations from around the world to highlight their examples of RRA implementation.

Aquest document és el resultat del treball del Grup ICE Explorant la Intel·ligència Artificial (EIA), una iniciativa dedicada a explorar les possibilitats de la intel·ligència artificial (IA) en l’àmbit educatiu. El nostre objectiu principal és oferir als docents eines pràctiques i innovadores que facilitin la seva tasca diària, millorin l’aprenentatge de l’alumnat i promoguin l’ús crític i creatiu de la tecnologia a l’aula. La guia que teniu a les mans recull una sèrie d’activitats dissenyades i provades en contextos reals, organitzades tant per àrees curriculars com per eines d’IA. Cada proposta inclou els objectius pedagògics, el pas a pas per implementar-la, els resultats obtinguts i una reflexió sobre els seus punts forts i febles.

Territorial manifestations of multiple crises and the shift of place-based innovation policies towards tackling sustainability challenges have far-reaching implications for the role of universities in regional development. Drawing on various literatures on the contributions of universities to regional development, we explore the strategies and practices that would define a revised role for universities in light of increasing environmental, social but also economic challenges. The aim of this concept paper is to outline new tasks for universities, which enable them to leverage their potential to make significant contributions to regional sustainability transition processes and policies.

The Global Startup Ecosystem Report 2025 (GSER 2025) is a comprehensive analysis of the current state of startup ecosystems worldwide. Now in its 13th year, the GSER provides insights into the world’s leading startup ecosystems, emerging trends, and key challenges facing entrepreneurs. It is based on extensive research and analysis of data from 5 million startups across 350+ global ecosystems and over a decade of independent research and providing policy advice to more than 185 economic and innovation ministries and public/private agencies in over 65 countries.

The accelerating combination of technologies such as artificial intelligence (AI), quantum computing and engineering biology is transforming industries and unlocking new economic and societal value. Yet many organizations struggle to identify where and how to invest. Written in collaboration with Capgemini, the Technology Convergence Report offers leaders a strategic lens – the 3C Framework – to help them navigate the combinatorial innovation era. This framework highlights three critical phases: combination (the integration of distinct technologies), convergence (restructuring of value chains) and compounding (network effects and ecosystem transformation). Drawing on a survey of 2,000 global executives and expert insights, the report maps 23 high-potential technology pairings across eight key domains.

This publication provides practical, user-friendly templates and recommended language for professionals in the biotechnology innovation ecosystem. It aims to help biotechnology innovation stakeholders understand the environment needed for sustainability, legal certainty and effective technology transfer in this sector, and the considerations involved in challenging issues such as the role of intellectual property (IP) in the creation, protection, commercialization and transfer of research outcomes from laboratories to public and private users. The Primer includes helpful templates as well as example agreements and clauses that have been utilized in successful biotechnology agreements.
